Micah Richards flipped the script on CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo on Wednesday night as he took over presenting duties... after being attacked by a sprinkler.

The punditry line-up featuring Abdo, Richards, Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher has received widespread praise from viewers for their coverage of the Champions League.

And their light-hearted approach to coverage continued on Wednesday when Richards took control.

"I'm joined by a very wet Micah Richards," began Abdo at the start of the broadcast. "Let's get to you first. You're drenched. What just happened?"

"Woah, woah, woah," Richards responded. "Hold on. I know what you're going to say. Go with the usual Champions League winner, Champions League winner," referring to fellow pundits Henry and Carragher.

"How about we focus on you and you doing your job?"

A vignette then played of Abdo choking live on air last week, before Carragher ran to her rescue.

What followed was footage of the presenter making a few light-hearted errors, including branding CBS Sports 'Fox Sports' during Tuesday's live coverage of the Milan derby.

A live camera on Abdo at the Etihad showed the host with her head in her hands, before the video ended and Richards took over.

"I'm Micah Richards, (with) Champions League winner Jamie Redknapp," he joked, pointing at Carragher.

He continued: "And Kate, who should be focusing on your job!"

"Perfectly focused on my job," Abdo responded. "I'm really enjoying what happened though. Just before we went to air, everybody at this desk got absolutely drenched."

Footage was then shown of all four members of the presenting show getting covered by a sprinkler, as the channel's coverage, which has received a raucous ovation from viewers, continued.

Manchester City hosted Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final in what was a mega clash as the two sides fought for the right to face Inter Milan in June's final.
