Mauricio Pochettino is NO LONGER Manchester United's first choice managerial appointment, with the club's reported No.1 target revealed.
Pochettino had thought to be in the lead to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United on a permanent basis.
The Paris Saint-Germain boss was believed to be keen on returning to the Premier League following his spells at Southampton and Tottenham.
Man United have previously tried to hire the Argentine, with Sir Alex Ferguson a big fan.
But Pochettino has been replaced as Man United's first choice manager, with The Red Devils now lining up a managerial move for Erik ten Hag.
That's according to The Times, who say the Ajax coach is the leading candidate to be appointed Man United's next full-time manager.
The 51-year-old has made a name for himself in the Netherlands with his style of play at Ajax.
He's steered Ajax to two league titles and produced heroics in the 2018/19 Champions League season, guiding his team to a semi-final spot.
Speaking in December, the Dutchman dropped a hint over his future - claiming he'd be ready to take on a new challenge.
He told de Volkskrant: "I think I'm ready for it. I would be happy to take on that challenge.
"But I'm not chasing it. If it turns out that that step will never come, I will not say that my coaching career has failed.
"But I think I have enough competences to take on that challenge."
Of course, Ralf Rangnick is currently at the helm following his appointment in November 2021.
But he's only in temporary charge until the end of the season.
