The skills it takes to be a Match of the Day presenter, pundit or commentator were never more obvious than Saturday night's attempt at an alternative by GB News.
Saturday's Match of the Day was obviously not the same without any form of analysis, conversation or commentary, which was clear to see for anyone who isn't a Tory MP.
That obviously had to be the case after the BBC decided to stand Gary Lineker down from his position, because of a tweet criticising the government for a policy human rights groups have condemned, not even the policy actually, the language used.

Following that, the likes of Ian Wright and Alan Shearer backed out of the programme, to show solidarity with their friend and colleague.
With a 20 minute show only putting on the highlights, broadcasters GB News decided to put on an alternative, with their in studio guests attempting to describe goals and put any sort of comment to the action.
Andy Toots put together a compilation of the very worst bits of it on social media, and you can see below just how bad it all was.
From the very off the presenter claims it's a 'football show with balls,' with his co-host producing a 'wahey' sound that makes this all feel like parody but it is in fact not an Alan Partridge sketch.

Mike Parry, a man once tricked by a vegan sausage live on television, then attempted to describe Mohamed Salah's awful penalty miss by erroneously pointing to parts of the air.
He then sings '1-0 to the Everton' and is accused of ruining their 'record number' of viewers, which one has to assume sits about 10.
The man who 'whayed' earlier is now in front of a big screen saying it's working, only for it to completely blackout, meaning that screen has better comedy timing than anyone who has ever been on GB News.
One pundit says the 'recruitment is down to the people who recruit,' even Michael Owen would be cringing at that one and then they get to the extremely thinly veiled insults.

Man in front of the screen suggests Lineker would like Brighton because of the 'rainbow flags and woke people,' and then calls Everton vs Brentford 'El Working Clasico,' leave the jokes to your screen lad.
It's all so painful to watch and helped remind us what everyone was missing on Match of the Day, even if they shows viewing figures were actually way up.
That's surely because people had a desire to see what the show was actually like, not because anyone really prefers it without the guests and presenter. If you only want highlights they're easy to find on social media.

Over 200,000 people have now signed a petition for Lineker to come back, and we really hope it happens soon, no one deserves to watch GB News attempt it again.
