He's been fantastic for Erik ten Hag.

Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez according to a report.

Martinez joined United from Ajax in the summer for £56million and has been outstanding so far.

The 24-year-old has soon become a fan favourite at Old Trafford and has combined brilliantly with former Madrid defender Raphael Varane.

At times the pair have looked unbeatable but Varane has suffered from injury in recent weeks and has missed the last few matches.

Madrid and United have done plenty of business in the past with the Spanish side taking talent from the Theatre of Dreams on multiple occasions and vice versa.

Casemiro and Varane are the latest signings to make the switch from Madrid to Manchester.

What has been said?

Defensa Central have claimed the interest in Martinez is real and one journalist has said that Madrid "have him in their sights".

It would be highly unlikely that United would sell their best centre-back since Nemanja Vidic and the Argentine defender has a contract with the club until 2027.

Erik ten Hag brought him to United for a reason and it has been rumoured that the Dutch boss wants to add another centre-back to join him at the back, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
