Man United will sign player like Erling Haaland for ten Hag

Manchester United will look to sign a player of a similar profile to Manchester City marksman Erling Haaland, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag’s side have been rejuvenated in recent weeks. A narrow 1-0 win over West Ham helped them climb to fifth in the Premier League, just a point from Newcastle United in fourth.

Meanwhile, the once misfiring Marcus Rashford has been revitalised under the Dutchman’s stewardship - it was his majestic header that propelled Man Utd to the three points at the weekend.

Yet, given Cristiano Ronaldo’s dwindling powers and Anthony Martial injury record, Man Utd will likely dip into the market for a striker in the next two windows.

Indeed, an Express.co.uk report has claimed the club is looking to sign a world-class striker to counter the threat of Man City’s Haaland and mount a genuine Premier League title challenge.

Haaland has been a revelation for Man City this season; the Norway international has netted 22 times and provided three assists in just 15 games.

The publication claim that next summer the club will look to complete the team with a star striker, and have referenced Atlético Madrid forward Joao Felix as a potential option.

The Portugal forward has fallen out of favour with manager Diego Simeone this season but reminded fans of his talents by bagging a pair of goals against Cadiz on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has long been linked with the Red Devils, and in the past even confirmed the club had contacted him over a move when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge.

The Nigerian has flourished this season, having netted seven times in eight appearances for a Napoli side at the summit of Serie A.

Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez has also arisen as a possible target for Man Utd and could be a viable option considering Simeone Inzaghi’s side are facing financial difficulties.
