Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has admitted that the squad's 'crazy' schedule has fully focused their attentions amid talk over a potential takeover of the club.

A number of bidders have launched offers for United in the past few days, with the current owners, the Glazer family, setting a soft deadline of 10pm last Friday for interested parties.

Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, chairman of one of Qatar's biggest banks, announced that his foundation has submitted a bid.

Meanwhile, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos are also in the race, with Ratcliffe a boyhood fan of the club.

US hedge fund Elliott, meanwhile, have offered to invest in United, as reported by The Times, but are said to be uninterested in the possibility of a full takeover from the Glazers.

On the pitch, Erik ten Hag's side have continued their incredible post-World Cup form, defeating Leicester 3-0 on Sunday to move within five points of Premier League leaders Arsenal, having played a game more.

They contest the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle this Sunday, and are still competing in the FA Cup and Europa League.

Speaking after the Leicester win, Lindelof addressed the United squad's thoughts on the takeover developments.

When asked about the current bidding process, the Swedish defender was keen to take little away from the side's on-field performances, and the focus on Thursday's Europa League clash against Barcelona.

He explained (quotes via Daily Express): "At the club you want to play those kind of games [vs Barcelona]. I think everyone is looking forward to it, so it's all about recovering and trying to get ready.

"The squad is very, very important, especially as we are in every competition at the moment.

"The schedule is crazy, so the team is always the most important thing and we've been performing great as a team.

"I haven't given that [potential takeover] a thought, you know, especially now with the schedule. We can't think about that.

"We just have to think about the games and preparing the best that we can do. Whatever happens, happens, so we're just focusing our performances."

Lindelof's comments were echoed by Ten Hag, who said: "We are committed with this club. It is our club. It's in our heart, but it [potential takeover] is not our job.

"We focus on football and performing and that is what the players and staff have to do."
