Manchester United refused to let Everton have a buy clause in their loan deal for Donny van de Beek.

The Netherlands international is desperate to leave Old Trafford in search of permanent game time and a move to Crystal Palace looked to be on the cards.

However, Everton moved quick to sign van de Beek and he'll spend the rest of this season on loan at Goodison Park.

It won't be any longer than that though as United have rejected the Toffees' request to having a right-to-buy clause inserted.

Van de Beek has started just four games in his 18 months at United but the refusal to include a buy clause indicates he has a future.

The 24-year-old arrived from Ajax in a £40 million deal in 2020 and looked to be a real snip.

He failed to impress former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and interim boss Ralf Rangnick also prefers Scott McTominay and Fred.

United are set to appoint a new manager this summer and a decision on van de Beek's long-term future is set to be made then.

This week has already seen Amad Diallo and Anthony Martial depart on loan to Rangers and Sevilla respectively.

Amad scored inside five minutes on his Rangers debut on Saturday, tucking home the opener in a 3-3 draw against Ross County.

Martial, meanwhile, expressed his desires to leave last month after seven years in England.

The winger had fallen down the pecking order following the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho last summer.

Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson have been linked with moves to Newcastle United ahead of Monday's deadline.

In terms of arrivals, nothing is expected in the next day or so.

Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele continues to be linked but United have dismissed those links as 'usual nonsense' over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Denis Zakaria is set to join Juventus when the Italian outfit sell Rodrigo Bentancur to Tottenham Hotspur.

United return to action against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup on February 4.
