Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has been slammed by fans after the team’s 1-0 defeat by Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Erik ten Hag’s side were hoping to carry on the momentum they have built after winning four matches in a row in the Premier League, against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester and most recently, Arsenal.
Ten hag handed starts to Cristiano Ronaldo and new summer signing Casemiro. However, the pair failed to inspire United to victory.

In what was a cagey affair between the two teams, it came down to a controversial decision which won the game for Sociedad.
The Spanish La Liga side were awarded a penalty after the referee decided that United centre back Lisandro Martinez handled the ball in the area.
Replays showed that the boy hit the Argentine’s leg before bouncing up onto his arm, which according to the official rules of the game, shouldn’t be a penalty.

Brais Mendez converted the spot kick and gave Imanol Alguacil’s side a famous win at Old Trafford.
After the match, many United players were criticised for their performances, but it was defender Lindelof who fans targeted.
Many fans showed their discontent over the Swedish international’s performance on social media.

One fan said: “Lindelof was poor tonight, was even worse when shifted to right back. Not good at all. Maguire poor too.”
Another fan tweeted: “Why you take Dalot off and bring Lindelof on when you have a right-back in Wan Bissaka on the bench!! Sociedad using Lindelof lack of pace against him. Everything good for them is coming from the right.”
A third fan added: “Tonight proves the point Ronaldo Fred Maguire Lindelof cannot be starting games for United.”
Another United fan said: “No coincidence that Maguire & Lindelof play 90 minutes and we're back to looking shakey.”
