Manchester United Fans Turn On Mauricio Pochettino After Champions League Exit

Pochettino was many people's favourite for the job at Old Trafford before PSG lost to Real Madrid last night and now they aren't keen on him

Mauricio Pochettino is 'finished,' or at least his prospects of getting the Manchester United job are, in the eyes of many of the club's fans.

Pochettino has been an expected future United manager since before they even sacked Jose Mourinho in December 2018, when Poch was still in charge of Tottenham Hotspur.

With the United job once again up for grabs in the summer, when Ralf Rangnick's time as interim ends, there has been speculation about the former Spurs boss once again.

However, after Karim Benzema ripped through his PSG side on Wednesday night, knocking them out of the Champions League, the tide seems to have turned against him in the mind of United fans, with many taking to social media to voice their disapproval.

So if not Pochettino then it seems that United fans want Ajax manager Erik ten Hag to take over instead, but they may have missed out one hilariously glaring detail.

Those fans who want Ten Hag, because Pochettino lost in the Champions League, seem to be forgetting that the Argentine beat the Dutchman in the semi final of the tournament in 2019.

Not only did the Premier League side win, but they came back from a three goal deficit, in the second half of the second leg, so that's surely a bigger bottle job?

On top of the fact that Ten Hag is just as big a bottler as Pochettino, the current PSG manager isn't the only one to struggle with that team.

They're very existence seems to be to win the Champions League and yet each manager has found a different way to be knocked out of it.

Wednesday was, after all, just a day removed from the five year anniversary of them being knocked out by Barcelona after winning the first leg 4-0.

Poch may have had Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at his disposal, and it doesn't look great, but it should hardly stop him getting the United job.
