Manchester United have been criticised over their “tone-deaf” comment on David de Gea’s wedding photos.
The Spaniard married his long-time partner Edurne Garcia on Saturday, with the wedding also marking the shot-stopper’s first day as a free agent after the expiration of his United contract.
Indeed, as per the Athletic, De Gea had signed a contract extension with United only for the club to back out of the agreed proposal.

De Gea had agreed to a drastic reduction on his current £375,000 per week wages, but the club did not sign the paperwork. United have now submitted a new proposal to the 32-year-old, who has been at the club for 12 years, with an even lower salary.
At present, the goalkeeper, who wants to continue playing at the highest level, is yet to sign the new deal. United will reportedly continue face-to-face discussions with De Gea over a new contract after the 32-year-old’s wedding.
Man Utd criticised

United have received criticism for their handling of De Gea’s contract, given the player has made 545 appearances since moving to Old Trafford and broken the club's clean sheets record, surpassing Peter Schmeichel.
And after United’s Instagram account congratulated De Gea and his partner of 12 years, Garcia, on their wedding, the club received a barrage of criticism for their “tone-death response.
United's official account wrote, "Felicidades, David,", which translates to "Congratulations, David" as the shot-stopper shared pictures of his wedding on Instagram.
While the comment has received over 2,600 likes, some supporters were not impressed by the response.

One person wrote: "Are you kidding? You let this man lose a job on a wedding day."
Another urged: "Please treat him better than this. He deserves to get respect from the club."
A third then added: “As a fan since I was 12 years old this club is incredibly tone-deaf and treats legends like s***. Don’t f*** around with his money and future, only to wish him well on his wedding day. It’s two-faced.”
Another person raged: "You made him a free agent after years of excellent loyal service and have the cheek to comment, as a MU fan, f*** off."
