Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has left fans confused after comments he made about his side’s defeat against Arsenal on Sunday.
Leaders Arsenal maintained their charge for Premier League glory after a late goal by Eddie Nketiah sealed a dramatic 3-2 win against United.
For the majority of the match, Mikel Arteta’s side were on top as they dominated possession and had 25 shots on goal compared to United’s six.

However, the Red Devils boss believes his side did not let Arsenal have many clear shots and limited the Gunners to shots from distance.
Ten Hag said: “In general, also in Arsenal we defended very well, I don’t think they got clean shots.
“There was only one time I think it was from a free kick, for the rest were only shots from distance, there were a lot of defenders from us in between the ball and the goal.

“That’s what I meant, all the goals were avoidable.”
Perhaps unsurprisingly, those comments have left Arsenal fans baffled.
One said: “Both of Eddie Nketiah’s goals came inside the 6-yard box…”
Another tweeted: “2 goals from the same place in the 6-yard box 3 goals scored 20 shots in the box saka had more touches in the box than yanited as a ‘team’.”

A third fan added: “We all saw it Erik, can’t lie your way out of this.”
Someone else wrote: “Think he may have been watching a different game.”
Ten Hag also added that he is bidding to make United the best team in world football.

He said: “I would say this is the best place [for him] to be because we want to construct the best team.
“First in England, then in Europe, then in the world.”
United are taking on Nottingham Forest in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.
