The Premier League's 'Big Six' are thought to be 'pushing the hardest for Manchester City to be punished' over alleged breaches of financial rules.

Man City have been charged by the Premier League with 'numerous breaches' of financial rules following a four-year investigation.

If the Blues are found guilty, they face a range of sanctions, including expulsion from the league and stripping of their league titles.

And, according to Sky Sports, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham want the Premier League to hand out the harshest punishment to Man City.

What's more, the Premier League's 'Big Six' believe that the retrospective action of stripping the club's titles is 'meaningless' and a fine is 'not likely have much of an effect'.

Man City have dominated England's top flight since the big-money takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, winning an impressive six league titles.

So, expect little sympathy from their domestic rivals amid their charges over financial rules.

But Man City intend to 'robustly' defend themselves against the charges as they admit they were 'surprised' over the alleged breaches.

A statement from the club reads: "Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with.

"The Club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent Commission, to impartially consider the comprehensive body of irrefutable evidence that exists in support of its position.

"As such we look forward to this matter being put to rest once and for all."
