Luis Diaz’s new unexpected role surprised onlookers at Liverpool’s training ground.
The Colombian has been out of action since the Reds’ 3-2 defeat to Arsenal on October 10.
He had been originally scheduled to return following the mid-season World Cup break but suffered a further setback at a Dubai training camp that has sidelined him since.

However, Diaz returned to Liverpool training this week and could potentially feature against Manchester City on Saturday.
And with games against Chelsea and Arsenal coming in quick succession following this weekend’s encounter, the winger is likely to be handed game time in the coming weeks.
Indeed, according to the Echo such has been the 26-year-old’s determination to get back into the fold that he spent some of the international break training with the club’s academy and undertaken further rehab.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Diaz even acted as an unofficial tour guide for Liverpool supporters at the club’s training facilities during the Christmas break.
The publication reported that Diaz would use the gym facilities at the AXA during scheduled days off, and provided some supporters with an unofficial tour of the venue when they bumped into him during a rehab session.
Supporters taking an impromptu tour of the training ground, which came after an LFC Foundation event earlier that morning, crossed paths with Diaz at the gym, despite no first-team players scheduled to be at the base that day.
The meeting came before Christmas, just weeks before the attacker broke down in Dubai and was forced to undergo knee surgery.
