Jurgen Klopp has previously expressed his interest in Belgian Winger Jeremy Doku and may look to sign him in upcoming transfer windows, according to Liverpool.com

Jurgen Klopp once dubbed the 20-year-old ‘the next Mane’ when Doku was given a tour around Melwood training centre, in a bid to convince him to join the Reds.

Only 16 at the time, Doku was also being monitored by Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Ajax and PSV, as it was clear the youngster could go on to do big things.

Doku rejected Liverpool at the time and decided to move to Rennes, which was considered the ‘sensible’ step in his development, following the likes of Raphinha and Ismaila Sarr who went on to be successful at both Leeds and Watford respectively.

Liverpool could look at attempting to sign for a second attempt, with his workhorse style pressing a key characteristic trait in Jurgen Klopps’ teams.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez took an interest in Doku from a very young age, giving the winger his full Belgium debut at the age of 18, in which he repaid the manager with a goal.

Doku is an immensely talented youngster, who put his name in lights during Italy’s 2-1 defeat to Belgium, where he completed 8 successful dribbles, a record for a teenager at the Euros.

The young Belgian only managed 14 appearances and 1 goal in Ligue 1 last season due to an injury riddled year, something Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on.

The Skilful winger has a current TransferMarkt value of around £18 million, which isn't a significant expense for a club like Liverpool.

His value could almost double if he is able to have an injury free campaign next year.

However, having already secured the signing of Darwin Nunez for £85 million, it is unlikely that Liverpool would be willing to spend any more of this summers’ budget on another attacker, unless there were to be a surprise departure.

With Mo Salah’s contract running down and Roberto Firmino expected to depart, should Doku stay injury free and ‘fulfill his potential’, it is likely the Reds would be interested in signing him in the future.
