Liverpool are interested in signing Atalanta wonderkid Giorgio Scalvini ahead of Inter Milan and Juventus, according to reports.
Scalvini broke through into the Atalanta first team last season, making 21 appearances for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.
His impressive performances earned him an Italy senior team call-up and, at the age of 19, he has so far received three caps for his country.

Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport first reported Liverpool's interest in the player in November, claiming that Atalanta would consider offers upwards of £40 million for one of their star youngsters.
Scalvini is a natural centre-back, but can also play in central midfield. This was evidenced in September, when Gasperini moved the Italy international into a midfield role. He went on to produce a starring display, scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win against Jose Mourinho's side.
Therefore, while he may not be able to correct Jurgen Klopp's midfield issues on a long-term basis, the German would have the option to play the 19-year-old there if he was able to get a deal over the line.

And according to new reports, Liverpool will push Inter and Juventus hard to seal his signature.
Liverpool keen on signing Scalvini
According to Calciomercato, Inter and Juventus will engage in a 'duel' for the 19-year-old, who is one of Italy's top prospects.
But they say Juve must focus on outgoings first before they can launch a bid for the Atalanta starlet's services, even though they are said to have already engaged in contact with the player's agent.

And both clubs could be rivalled by Liverpool, who are named alongside Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund as clubs also keen on bringing in Scalvini.
Any club interested, however, will have to pay a fee of at least €40 million, as per the same source - meaning the battle for Scalvini's signature could be hard-fought in the coming weeks and months.
