Despite reports suggesting Ousmane Dembele is set to extend his contract with Barcelona, Liverpool have reportedly launched an offer to sign the Frenchman.
According to the report from Sport, Dembele would be viewed as a direct replacement for Mo Salah.
Liverpool are said to be considering selling Salah with the Egyptian refusing to drop his hefty wage demands of £400,000 a week.

There will, however, be some concerns surrounding Dembele’s fitness record for Liverpool fans.
The system Jürgen Klopp deploys on Merseyside is hugely demanding, and it is not one which suits injury-prone players particularly well.

Since joining Barca, Dembele has not started more than 20 games per season once.
Salah, on the other hand, has started at least 30 games per season for Liverpool in the Premier League every campaign since he joined.
The 30-year-old winger has also scored at least 19 Premier League goals per season since joining the Reds. Dembele has averaged less than 4 goals per season during his stint in Spain.
Given how much of a hole Salah and his goal contributions would leave in the Liverpool squad were he to depart, Liverpool may be wiser pursuing a more proven goal scorer to replace him.

Currently, Dembele is a free agent and any club is free to make an approach to sign the 25-year-old.
Liverpool are not alone in keeping tabs on Dembele’s situation however.
Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich are also said to be interested in the player.

Arsenal fans will also be holding a watchful over this one. If Dembele does leave Barcelona, the Catalan side may snatch Leeds United’s Raphinha from the north London outfit’s clutches.
Alongside the Barcelona forward, the Reds have been linked with the likes of Timo Werner, Marco Asensio, and Rodrygo.
