Liverpool are interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka but are yet to make a move for the player, according to Goal journalist Neil Jones.
Chukwuemeka has been the subject of interest from a host of Premier League clubs this summer, including Arsenal and Newcastle.
Spanish side Barcelona are also said to have expressed an interest in the player.

According to Neil Jones, the Reds are yet to make an official bid, but do rate the player.
Speaking to the Redmen TV regarding the Merseyside club’s interest in Chukwuemeka, Jones said:
“Possibly, the only way I see it happening is if it was one of them where a deal is there to be done and Liverpool think it’s a very good deal.
“He’s highly rated by everyone, it’s not like Liverpool have spotted this unknown talent, he’s potentially top-drawer."

"The fact that Villa have this stance with him tells you what they think of him, they want him to stay."
“He and Jacob Ramsey are the jewels in their academy crown at the moment."
"I haven’t heard that they’re (Liverpool) planning on making a move for him, but if something came up for £9 million - £10 million, and he was going to Fulham or somewhere like that, Liverpool may think that it’s an easy decision to make but not at this stage.”
Chukwuemeka joined the Villa academy from the Northampton Town academy in March 2016 and was part of the Villans under-18s team that beat Liverpool’s under-18s side in the FA Youth Cup final in 2021.

The England under-19 international has gone on to make 15 appearances for the Villa first team, including 13 in the Premier League.
With the Reds already signing Fabio Carvalho this summer- another teenage midfielder- a move for Chukwuemeka would appear unlikely in this window, although could materialise next summer when Jurgen Klopp looks to rebuild his ageing midfield.
