Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has stated to the world's media that many clubs around the world had an interest in their new signing Aurelien Tchouameni, especially Liverpool.
Speaking on El Chiringuito TV, as tweeted by well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano, Perez revealed Liverpool's serious intentions to sign the Frenchman, but that he only ever had eyes for the Spanish giants.
"Tchouaméni deal? Someone told him he had to go at Paris Saint-Germain... yes, Mbappé was trying but this is normal” stated Perez

"PSG and Liverpool wanted Tchouaméni, it's normal to have competition. He only wanted Real Madrid".
The 22-year old recently signed for the recent Champions League winners for a staggering £85 million, however it is unlikely that Madrid would have dropped such a large sum on the midfielder if they hadn't failed to sign Mbappe in the days prior.
After seeing Tchouaméni have such an impressive season in Ligue 1 for his former side Monaco, it is no surprise that the Spanish side were not deterred by the huge price tag.

The midfielder was instrumental in helping his side earn third place in the table, allowing them a shot at Champions League qualification.
Despite missing out on one of the world’s most exciting young prospects, Liverpool have not been resting on their laurels this transfer window and have also done some good business this summer.
They have recently announced the signing of Darwin Nunez from Benfica, for a fee that may rise to 100 million euros, and the signing of Fabio Carvalho from Fulham for a fee in the region of £4m.

The Merseyside side club also look set to imminently complete the transfer of Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen, which will see them head in to the 2022/2023 season with an exciting squad.
