Roberto Firmino's wife, Larissa, has issued a heartfelt message to Liverpool fans following her husband's departure from the club.

Firmino played his last game for Liverpool on Sunday afternoon, scoring in a chaotic 4-4 draw against Southampton before being substituted in the 57th minute to an emotional farewell from the away stand.

The goal marked his 82nd Premier League across eight seasons in Merseyside where he has firmly established himself as a fan favourite.

But the 30-year-old has decided to call time on his Liverpool career, and is available as a free agent this summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid are among the clubs interested in signing him.

Romano revealed that he is "one of the names considered by Real Madrid", but confirmed there had been "no negotiations, just "internal discussions" about the Brazilian.

Wherever Firmino may end up next season, his wife will leave Liverpool with a heavy heart, taking to social media to share the love with fans.

Despite a poor season in the Premier League, Larissa has nothing but fond memories of her time involved with Liverpool, stating that the club taught her that "love is worth it".

"We've reached the end," the model and fashion entrepreneur said on Instagram.

"We are leaving here with hearts full of love. This made the goodbye even more painful, it made us miss everything, even before saying goodbye.

"But this love also impelled us to do everything over and over again, to do everything the same way, to really give of ourselves, to really love, to give ourselves completely.

"Liverpool taught me that love is worth it. Thank you fans, thank you LFC, thank you to each person who was part of this story. We will never forget you."
