Former Premier League striker Alan Smith has had his say on how he thinks Liverpool will fare this season and says his prediction may ‘surprise one or two’.
Smith, who played 294 games and scored 95 goals for Arsenal in his career, stated to the 90Min Youtube Channel that he believes Jurgen Klopp's side will win the Premier League.
Last year’s campaign was an intense two-horse race for the title, with Liverpool finishing only a single point behind Man City.

The two sides could not be separated in their head to heads, which saw them draw 2-2 on both occasions with the two games exemplifying how even both teams were all season.
However Smith believes this could be the year the Reds take the trophy away from Manchester:
“I’m going to go with Liverpool and that will surprise one or two,” Smith said.

“At the moment I’m writing off Chelsea. I’m hoping they sink down a little bit and allow Arsenal in there, and Spurs as well.”
Considering how the opening games of the season panned out, the Sky Sports pundit’s prediction may indeed surprise a few fans.
Liverpool were forced to come from behind twice to draw with newly promoted Fulham and Marco Silva’s side caused the Reds some real problems.
To make matters worse for the Merseyside club, Thiago was taken off in the second half and is set to miss six weeks due to a Hamstring injury.

On the other hand, Manchester City produced a dominant display to win 2-0 away to West ham, with new star signing Erling Haaland scoring twice on his Premier League debut.
Whilst it is hard to gauge how the upcoming campaign will play out based on one game, there certainly looked to be a disparity in the quality of the Premier League’s top two sides.
