"Get a grip" - Jeff Stelling hits out at "garbage" claim about Liverpool

"Get a grip" - Jeff Stelling hits out at "garbage" claim about Liverpool

Liverpool are not spiralling out of control, according to Jeff Stelling

Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling has hit out at TalkSPORT host Jason Cundy, who claimed that Liverpool are ‘spiralling out of control’ as a football club.

The Reds lost out against Napoli in the week, with many earmarking it as one of the worst performances under manager Jurgen Klopp.

Senior players such as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and James Milner have come under fire, with Liverpool running less in each of their last six Premier League matches than their opponents and conceding first in eight of their last nine games.

The former Chelsea midfielder told the radio station:

“Klopp, you look at what he’s done at Borussia Dortmund and how his career ended there, it’s happening again at Liverpool,” he said.

“Liverpool right now are spiralling out of control. They are not the same team. [Sadio] Mane is a miss.”

“Van Dijk is not the same player as he was,” Cundy added. “He’s all over the place, look at his body shape when they concede the goal in the Champions League final.”

However, Sky Sports host Stelling responded on social media, calling the opinions ‘garbage’.

“Liverpool 9 Bournemouth 0. Spiralling out of control. Get a grip. I know it’s all click bait."

"Maybe not enough changes in squad, VVD still not quite what he was since serious injury, Salah not at best but the only people spiralling out of control are those who spout this garbage!”

Liverpool are in a mini-crisis, absolutely, but Stelling is right when it comes to not overreacting.

The Reds came extremely close to an unprecedented quadruple just a few months ago, and despite a poor run of form, they can easily turn it around.
