A group of Liverpool fans have called on a multi-billionaire Manchester United fan to buy the club.
Earlier today The Athletic reported that Fenway Sports Group, (FSG) who bought Liverpool 12 years ago, have put the club up for sale.
Following the reports, the Liverpool owners confirmed they “would consider new shareholders” and were “inviting offers”.

FSG bought the club in a £300million deal in 2010, and have since returned the Reds to their former glories, picking up the club’s first Premier League title in 30 years alongside an FA Cup, a League Cup and a Champions League.
Since the Athletic report, there has been speculation as to who may take over as the new Liverpool owner.
Indeed, the Liverpool fan account The Anfield Talk has claimed on Twitter: “Very early stages but expecting Sir Jim Ratcliffe to be at the front of the queue to purchase Liverpool Football Club.

“It would align well with what the club requires too.
“He owns Nice too so would be a great chance for us to build a global feeder club profile.”
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain's richest man, is the CEO of Ineos Group Ltd and has a net worth of £10.2billion per Forbes.
The business mogul already owns the cycling team Ineos Grenadiers, Ligue 1 side Nice, who he took over in 2019 and Swiss Super League club FC Lausanne-Sport.
The 70-year-old has also expressed an interest in owning Premier League clubs in the past. Ratcliffe tabled a £4.25billion bid to buy Chelsea this summer but saw his offer rejected for Todd Boehly.

Notably, he is also a Man Utd fan, Liverpool’s fiercest rival, and is keen on buying the Old Trafford club if it became available, according to Sky Sports News.
When Ratcliffe’s Man Utd allegiance was raised on Twitter, the Anfield Talk claimed: “Yes but he’s been after a top PL club for a while and gets on well with John W Henry.”
Twitter user @telfc00 responded: "Well as long as the man is willing to give [Jurgen] Klopp his war chest I'm happy."
However some fans were not as keen.

Another twitter user, @IivehpewI, said: "He’s a Utd fan. No thank you."
Meanwhile @sirjohnburrows claimed: "A Utd fan who wanted Chelsea and has already made it clear that beyond borrowing money to buy a club, he's not that interested in putting his own cash in? Nah."
Despite the Oldham-born billionaire growing up a Man Utd fan, he became a season ticket holder at Chelsea after moving to London.
