Fabio Carvalho has revealed that he attended the same school as Liverpool teammate Harvey Elliott.

Both players joined the Fulham academy at a young age and have subsequently arrived at Anfield in recent years after impressing at the West London club.

While Elliott completed his move to the Premier League giants in 2019, Carvalho made the switch earlier this summer for a fee potentially rising to £7.7 million.

With Liverpool facing a shortage of senior midfield options due to injuries to Thiago Alcantara and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, both youngsters have had chances to impress in the Reds’ opening two fixtures of the season.

Elliott started and impressed in Monday night’s draw with Palace, while his Portuguese counterpart almost scored a winning goal off the bench.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Carvalho revealed that the pair went to school together in South West London while growing up.

When asked how delighted he was to be reunited with Elliott the 19-year-old said:

“It’s been sick! We played for the same team growing up but we also went to the same school, which is something that some people might not know.

“So me and him have been tight for a few years now, since a young age."

"It’s good to be back with him and it’s good to be playing football with him as well because that’s something I really enjoy. He’s a top player.”

Carvalho made some impact for the Cottagers last season as Marco Silva’s side made an immediate return to the top flight by winning the Championship title.

The Portugal international made 36 appearances in the second division, scoring 10 times.

Meanwhile, Elliott became the youngest ever Premier League player when he made his debut in 2019.

After last season’s strong start was brought to an abrupt halt due to an ankle injury, the Englishman will hope that his impressive display against Palace will see him get increased minutes this campaign.

However, with Liverpool reportedly still in the market for a new addition in midfield in the remaining weeks of the window, the pair of teenagers could well see their opportunities shrink throughout the season.
