Former Liverpool defender and pundit Jason McAteer believes Fabio Carvalho has shades of Philippe Coutinho in his game after watching him during the Reds' tour of Asia this summer.
Carvalho joined the Reds this summer from Fulham, with whom he won the Championship title.
He scored eleven goals and got eight assists in 40 appearances for the London side.

“He’s got bags of talent, we saw that when he was at Fulham, a great prospect with loads of potential,” McAteer said to LFCTV.
“He’s come to a new club and he’s trying to impress the lads."
"Whether he gets a lot of starts remains to be seen, he’s in an area of the pitch where there’s not too much up for grabs, we’ve just waxed-lyrical about Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott and the Ox can play in there."
"I’m not sure he’s quite ready yet, but he looks like Coutinho to me, he plays like that doesn’t he?”

Much like the Brazilian, the youngster is a tricky attacking midfielder who moves ever so gracefully with the ball, and on top of that, he has a real eye for goal.
He doesn’t quite have Coutinho’s signature long-range top-corner curler in his locker, but from the edge of the area, Carvalho can be deadly.
His £7.7m move could prove to be one of the signings of the summer considering the price, and Jurgen Klopp has spoken about his potential involvement in this campaign.
“It doesn’t really need saying, but it is worth reminding everyone that he will of course need patience."

"It’s a step up, but one we know he is more than capable of making, which is why we were so keen for so long to sign him for Liverpool."
“He has the perfect environment here to learn and develop."
"He has a dressing room full of the best teachers in football who will help him settle and adapt.
“With us, a player of Fabio’s profile will get an opportunity along with space to improve, learn and develop further."

"I’m looking forward to working with him and seeing him in a red jersey.”
