Former Arsenal defender Paul Merson has fired a snipe at the Chelsea hierarchy whilst discussing the possibility of Jurgen Klopp getting sacked by Liverpool.
The Merseyside club have had an awful start to the season by their standards and they are fresh off the back of an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Napoli in the Champions League.
Life hasn’t been much better for the Reds in the Premier League either, with only two wins in their first six games which leaves them in 7th place and 6 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

A poor few weeks for Liverpool has led to questions over Klopp’s future, but the German was confident that the club’s owners would continue to back him.
He stated after the Napoli game that ‘our owners (FSG) are rather calm and expect me to sort the situation and not think someone else will.’

Paul Merson, who made 425 appearances for the Gunners, was similarly convinced that Klopp would not lose his job, and also made a dig at Chelsea when discussing the topic in his column for Sportskeeda.
“No matter what happens, I don’t think Liverpool will consider sacking Jurgen Klopp, they aren’t Chelsea!”, said the 54 year-old.
You’re talking about one of the few managers who can take over a team from League 1 and bring them up to the Premier League, so he’s still the right man for the job.”
Merson is referring to the traditionally merciless methods Chelsea have used with their managers over the years, with the most recent example being the sacking of Thomas Tuchel only 16 months after he led the club to their second ever Champions League trophy.

Tuchel’s sacking can undoubtedly be labelled as harsh, especially when you consider Chelsea are also higher in the Premier League table than the Reds, which exemplifies the stark difference between the brutality of the Liverpool and Chelsea owners.
