Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone has been 'spotted in crutches' in a blow to Liverpool's transfer plans.
Jurgen Klopp had identified Kone as a potential addition at Anfield following an impressive season in the Bundesliga.
The departures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo has left a gaping hole within the Reds' midfield, with Klopp plotting a major rebuild this summer.

Earlier in June, it was reported that Liverpool had made enquiries into the availability of Kone, and were quoted between €40 and €45 million.
The 22-year-old could become Klopp's second signing of the summer following the arrival of Brighton's Alexis Mac Allister.
However, a move has now been cast into doubt following concerns over Kone's injury.

Kone 'spotted on crutches'
Kone is currently away on international duty for France at the Under-21 European Championships, having featured in all three of his country's group matches so far.
But the midfielder's tournament has been cut short after he was seen leaving the stadium on crutches after France's 4-1 win over Switzerland due to a knee injury.
Kone was substituted in the 19th minute after attempting to shrug off the injury and news of his injury could majorly affect Liverpool's pursuit.

Meanwhile, French news outlet L’Equipe report that Kone will undergo a medical exam today in Cluj to understand the extent of his injury.
Fellow France U-21 midfielder Khephren Thuram has also been linked with a move to Anfield, as Klopp seeks to add youth and dynamism to his ageing midfield.
Nice are thought to want €60m (£51.4m) for the player, with Newcastle also in the running for his signature.
