Liverpool transfer target Matheus Nunes could be available this summer, with his current situation uncertain according to reports from Portugal.

The 23-year-old midfielder has been subject of much Premier League speculation this window, with West Ham United having a £25m bid rejected and Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester City all circling the Sporting Lisbon stalwart.

Manager Ruben Amorim would be very keen on keeping their prized asset midfielder this window, however, if a “convincing proposal” arrives at the right time then the midfielder will end up leaving the Estadio Jose Alvalade outfit.

Record claim that for an initial fee of £33.8m rising to around £40m would be able to secure Nunes’ signature, and Liverpool would rightfully be interested if Jurgen Klopp wanted him at the club.

Thiago, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are currently sidelined with injuries varying from a month to two or three, so Liverpool are left a little short in the area.

Klopp has remained vigilant on Liverpool’s stance though, and says that unless the ‘right player’ becomes available for the ‘right price’, then Liverpool would not move for anybody.

"If there was the right player and an opportunity, we would have done it, we would do it, but I don't see it because we had a lot of conversations already and it doesn't look like something will happen," he said during his press conference.

"I'm happy with the strength, size and quality of my squad but we have injuries."

"There are plenty of solutions for it. One of them is the transfer market, but that only makes sense if you can bring in the right player.

"All the other solutions are inside the squad. We have too many injuries, that's clear. Naby will be back for Monday and Kostas (Tsimikas) will train today for the first time so he might be back as well."

So it looks as if the Reds won’t be moving for him, but if that specific deal did become available then Nunes would be of the calibre Klopp would be after.
