Jurgen Klopp’s interview from the summer has resurfaced after the Liverpool boss claimed his team can’t compete with Manchester City this week.
Ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash between two of England’s best teams from the last few seasons, Klopp stated that Liverpool are unable to compete with City.
He said: “Oh, you won’t like the answer, and you all have the answer already. Nobody can compete with City in that.

“You have the best team in the world and you put in the best striker on the market. No matter what it costs you just do it. I know City will not like it. Nobody will like it. You've asked the question, but you know the answer.
“What does Liverpool do? We cannot act like them. It is not possible. Not possible. It is just clear and again you know the answer.”
However, since his comments this week, Klopp’s interview from the summer has resurfaced. During that interview, he said that his Liverpool side are ready to compete.

The Reds boss said to Sky Sports: “We have four of the best centre-backs in the world, we have the two best left & right-backs - and we didn't even speak about the goalkeeper.”
Liverpool’s start to the 22/23 season has been nothing short of a disaster after a string of disappointing displays. They are currently 11th in the Premier League table, 14 points off leaders Arsenal. If they lose to City, they will find themselves 16 points behind the team that finished just one point above them last season.
Despite their poor form, City boss Pep Guardiola is still wary of Liverpool’s threat.

He said: “The game will be dictated by what happens on the pitch, not because we are in front [in the league].
“My opinion I have for this team [Liverpool], nothing has changed. They always have been and always will be [our biggest title threat].
“I know the quality they have, they know the quality we have. If there were 10 games left, I think Liverpool could not catch the top of the league, in this case, Arsenal. But being in the position we are in, with the World Cup, anything can happen.”
