Liverpool have contacted Benfica over the potential signing of midfielder Florentino Luis - and there is another intriguing name on their shortlist, according to reports.
The Reds negotiated with the Portuguese giants in the summer, in order to bring Darwin Nunez to the club. The Uruguayan joined for £64 million - although this could increase to a club-record £85m if all add-on clauses are met.
He was one of four senior players to join Liverpool this summer. Arthur Melo signed from Juventus on a loan deal, while the Reds completed permanent moves for Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay and Fulham midfielder Fabio Carvalho.

But Jurgen Klopp's side have struggled in the Premier League this season, even with Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City providing a major morale boost.
They currently sit eighth in the table - 14 points off leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.
Some fans believe that the side needs a refresh in the upcoming windows, and it appears that the Reds are keen on enhancing their midfield options.

The Portugal international signed a new deal with the Eagles last week, with the contract spanning until 2027. However, it does contain a release clause, which the same source states is worth €120 million (£104 million).
The 23-year-old has made 30 appearances for the senior team, having spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Monaco.

It is also reported that Liverpool are interested in signing Florentino's midfield partner, Enzo Fernandez. The Argentinian, who only joined Benfica this summer from River Plate, also has a release clause of £104 million. At 21, he looks to have a big future ahead of him - along with Florentino.
Liverpool fans will surely hope that at least one of the two midfielders spends their long-term future at Anfield.
