Former Liverpool winger Luis Garcia believes that the Reds’ new signing Fabio Carvalho could be the new James Milner.
Carvalho joined Liverpool this summer after a very successful 2021/22 season at Fulham, where he led the Cottagers to the Championship title.
At only 19 years old, the Portuguese player gained interest from many top sides, however, it was Jurgen Klopp who quickly managed to sign the versatile midfielder.

One individual who is particularly excited about Carvalho’s arrival is the ex-Spanish winger, Luis Garcia.
He spoke to LFCTV, praising Carvalho’s footballing ability, likening him to the Liverpool legend, James Milner.
Milner has played a vital role in Liverpool’s success ever since he joined the club back in 2015.
But with him now reaching 36 years old, his time at the club is sure to come to an end soon.

He is an experienced player who has also earned 61 appearances internationally for England, so for Garcia to liken young Carvalho to Milner is a huge compliment.
At Anfield, Klopp often plays Milner either as a centre midfielder or a full-back who can effectively take control of the pitch.
Garcia believes that Carvalho also shows very similar traits of versatility, and is sure that he will be very successful at Liverpool.
“He’s one of those players who you can play in so many positions."

We’ve seen Milner play in midfield, as a striker, almost as a goalkeeper and I think Carvalho is the same. “
He continued to say that although Carvalho has the ability to play all across the field, he believes that the Reds will get the most use out of their new signing in an attacking midfield role, praising his goal-scoring capability.
“If you play him in the midfield onwards he’ll be even better because he has that ability to score.”
Under the caring eye of Jurgen Klopp, there is no doubt that young Carvalho will improve massively in his first season in a Liverpool shirt.

He has already impressed the fans during their two pre-season friendlies against Manchester United and Crystal Place, coming very close to netting his first goal for the club.
So although it is yet to be seen how much game time Carvalho will be given during the upcoming 2022/23 season, his chances of playing first-team minutes are definitely strengthened by his ability to operate both out wide and in midfield.
