Watch Liverpool youngster score incredible goal from inside his own half against PSG

Liverpool youngster Billy Koumetio scored a superb goal from inside his own half during a Premier League International Cup match vs PSG.

Liverpool youngster Billy Koumetio scored an incredible goal from inside his own half during a Premier League International Cup match between the Reds' U21 side and Paris Saint-Germain U21.

Liverpool won an goal-filled matchup 4-2, with Koumetio grabbing a brace.

The 20-year-old has recently been recalled from a loan spell with Austria Vienna, having made just two appearances in all competitions since September 3.

During the World Cup break, the France youth international spent his time at the Reds academy, before being officially recalled by Jurgen Klopp's side at the beginning of January.

Koumetio can provide the Reds with extra defensive cover at senior level, given Virgil van Dijk's hamstring injury, but for now, the youngster is playing in the U21s.

And he marked his return to the side with aplomb on Wednesday. Receiving the ball in central defence with not a huge amount of passing options to choose from, Koumetio spotted the PSG goalkeeper off his line on the edge of the 18-yard box.

The Frenchman then launched the ball forward, with his effort flying over the head of the back-pedalling goalkeeper and into the corner of the net.

Koumetio scores double in Reds win

Clearly buoyed by his wondergoal, the centre-back added a second goal shortly before the break to make it 3-0, Luke Chambers having put the Reds 2-0 ahead.

And another young centre-back, Oludare Olufunwa, netted a fourth for Barry Lewtas's side.

It wasn't the ideal ending to the match, however, as PSG struck two late consolation goals. But that wasn't to be enough to overhaul the Reds' advantage, with the final scoreline finishing up at 4-2.

Liverpool are in third place in their eight-team group, which features four English age group teams and four European teams. As well as Everton, Crystal Palace and Stoke, the group also contains Sporting Lisbon, Hertha Berlin and Dinamo Zagreb.

The Reds have six points from their two games, with their other two fixtures in the group also against European clubs, as per competition rules.
