Off the back of the £85.5 million signing of Darwin Nuñez and tying down Mo Salah to a new deal, Jürgen Klopp is reportedly looking to strengthen his attack further through the acquisition of PSV’s Cody Gakpo.
Gakpo has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs this summer after an explosive season in the Eredivisie.
The Dutch international contributed towards 24 league goals for PSV last season across 27 appearances.

As such, the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Leeds United, and now Liverpool have been linked with a £30+ million swoop for Gakpo.
At 23, Gakpo will view this summer as a golden opportunity to find a move and test himself in a tougher league.

He is a player who would be well suited to the Premier League. He boasts impressive physical prowess, and isn’t the type of winger who’d be bullied by Premier League defenders.
The array of clubs interested in him is indicative of which stage of development he currently finds himself within.
If he were to join City, Liverpool, or Arsenal, he’d likely occupy more of a squad role. Providing cover and competition. At Leeds, he’d be a guaranteed starter.
Liverpool would only want to commit to such a deal if it can be completed at a reasonable price.

As per Voetbal International, Liverpool understand PSV would want £34 million for their Dutch forward and have already held talks with his agent.
The Reds have already set aside significant financial outlay to sign Darwin Nuñez, so PSV could have priced Liverpool out of this race by demanding such a figure.

As a player who favours operating on the left, first-team opportunities would also be few and far between at Anfield for Gakpo.
Despite his clear talent, it’s difficult to foresee him displacing either one of Luis Diaz or Diogo Jota in Jürgen Klopp’s side.
Thus, a move elsewhere is more probable for Gakpo this summer. If Leeds do offload Raphinha, they’ll likely occupy the role of favourites in this pursuit.
