Liverpool's famous Anfield ground might have an excellent reputation, especially for famous nights in the Champions League, but their Premier League rivals aren't that impressed.
It's often been said that there's something magical about Anfield on a European night, when Liverpool more than often vanquish whichever European powerhouse turns up in Merseyside.
It's not a new phenomenon either, with the Reds becoming European champions four times before the Premier League era, and twice during it.

However, despite that, and plenty of success domestically over the years too, fans clearly feel that the atmosphere isn't actually all it's claimed to be, even if Jurgen Klopp blamed his team's terrible home form in 2021 on a lack of fans.
In a poll last year, 44.5% of fans believed that Anfield had the most overrated atmosphere in the Premier League, with rivals Manchester United's Old Trafford not too far behind in second place.
Despite their reputation for singing 'You'll Never Walk Alone' in harmony before kick off, and the intimidation during European nights, it may be that the consistency isn't there at Anfield.

Sure the crowd are in good voice when United or Everton turn up in the red half of Merseyside, but can perhaps it's considered overrated because fans don't rouse themselves enough for other visitors.
Although it was called 'overrated' it's therefore still not the damning indictment some might think, it's just not quite always at the high level that fans might expect, or want.
If fans really want the experience of You'll Never Walk Alone being sung loudly, they may need to pop north of the border to Celtic, as the Hoops fans showed back in February in an Old Firm game.

Manchester United fans would probably not be too keen on praising the atmosphere of their most fierce rivals, sorry Manchester City fans it still isn't you.
However, after last season they may have some better words to say about the home crowd at Anfield, at least during the game against United.
The game in April, in which Klopp's side won 4-0, came in the aftermath of Cristiano Ronaldo and partner Georgina Rodriguez tragically losing their son.

Liverpool fans gave the forward a minute's applause in the seventh minute of the game to show him and his family their support, with a shirt bearing his name even lifted up.
So even if they're an overrated crowd, they're definitely a classy lot when it matters. Liverpool are currently seventh in the Premier League and return to action against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.
