Lionel Messi and Neymar’s behaviour from the Paris Saint-Germain bench has been lauded by fans amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United.
Neymar and Messi were withdrawn by PSG manager Christophe Galtier in the second half of their side’s 5-0 demolition of Auxerre on Sunday.
Messi and Neymar are set to represent Argentina and Brazil respectively at the forthcoming World Cup, with both countries widely seen as two of the favourites to win the competition.

Footage has emerged of the PSG duo sitting on the bench alongside teammate Sergio Ramos, with Neymar appearing to signal towards Christophe Galtier.
It appeared Neymar and Messi received approval from the PSG boss to leave their place on the bench and head to the locker room.
Fans were quick to point out the difference between the professionalism of Neymar and Messi compared with Ronaldo, who has been criticised for his antics at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo, 37, in October was slammed for leaving Old Trafford before the full-time whistle in United’s 2-0 Premier League win over Tottenham.
And the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has caused further controversy after launching a scathing criticism of United in his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.
“Ronaldo can’t relate,” one fan said.
Someone else posted on Twitter: “This is how to behave. You don’t just storm into the dressing room like some man-child I know. You ask for permission before you go. You don’t just act anyhow you like.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “See, if Ronaldo [would have] done this, it would’ve been okay, not hard to show a bit of respect.”
And a fourth fan tweeted: “[Ronaldo] that’s how to do it, show respect if you want to get it in return. To remind you what you already know ‘respect is reciprocal.’”
Speaking after PSG’s win at the Parc des Princes, Galtier revealed why Kylian Mbappe played the full 90 minutes while Messi and Neymar were taken off.

“No-one was especially concerned about the World Cup, surely more me than my players, and for me, at one point I wanted to relieve Neymar, Leo and Sergio who is not going to the World Cup but had a little fatigue in the calves,” he told Prime Video.

“Kylian is 23 years old, Neymar had stopped in the middle of the week on a training session, Leo was coming back from an overload on his calf, it also seemed appropriate to give playing time to other players.”
