Neymar has finally lifted the lid on his fractured relationship with former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe.
The Brazilian forward, who spent six years at PSG before joining Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in 2023, was on speaking terms with Mbappe but things reportedly turned sour during the latter years of their time in Paris.
In fact, Mbappe described his relationship with Neymar as “hot and cold” in 2022, just weeks after the pair clashed in a routine win over Montpellier, when Neymar prevented Mbappe from taking another penalty kick.

"There are times, you'll see, when we're the best of friends and sometimes we don't talk so much," Mbappe said. "It's the nature of our relationship that's like that."
"But there is a lot of respect, I have a lot of respect for the player he is, the player he represents and the importance he has in our team."
In the past, Neymar has rarely discussed his relationship with Mbappe; well, not publicly anyway.

But earlier this week, the former Santos and Barcelona forward opened up on his time at Paris Saint-Germain – as well as the Real Madrid forward – during a sit-down interview with former Brazil striker Romario.
Speaking on the podcast, Neymar claimed Lionel Messi's arrival in the summer of 2021 was detrimental to his partnership with Mbappe, who allegedly grew "jealous" of his relationship with the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.
“Mbappe was not annoying. When Messi came, I think he became a little jealous," he said, as per Fabrizio Romano.
“I had my things with him, we had a little fight. He was a boy... that in the beginning was key, I used to call him ‘Golden Boy’, I spoke to him, played around with him, told him he’d be one of the best, I always help, always had conversations with him.

“When Leo [Messi] arrived, he became a little jealous. He didn’t want to share me with anyone. That’s how the fights started, the change in behaviour."
Neymar also touched on the so-called ego wars in Paris after they failed to scoop that elusive Champions League trophy during his spell.
"It is good to have egos," he said. "But you have to know that you don't play alone. There needs to be another guy by your side. (Big) egos were almost everywhere, it can't work."

The Brazilian added: "If nobody runs and nobody helps, it is impossible to win anything."
