A holidaymaker in Majorca bumped into Liverpool midfielder Fabinho during a recent trip to the beach – and it ended in the pair following each other on Instagram.

Brenden Ryan, a Customs Officer from Gibraltar, has been enjoying a week in Spain's Balearic Islands with his girlfriend and on Wednesday, he decided to go for an afternoon sunbath.

The 32-year-old was minding his own business when, to his surprise, he spotted Brazil international Fabinho enjoying a well-earned post-season holiday with his wife.

"I was lying down and when I got up for a swim, I noticed they were lying down on the sunbeds behind me," Ryan tells SPORTbible. "I went over and asked him if he didn't mind taking a photo with me."

The following day, Brenden was on his way down for breakfast when he spotted Fabinho waiting outside his hotel room.

He pounced at the chance to organise a kickabout on the beach.

"I asked if he didn't mind doing a few kick-ups with me later on in the day and he said no, not at all," the 32-year-old says.

"He was a great guy, very humble and easy to speak to. We played football a couple of times throughout the day and spoke about his football career and just life in general."

After enjoying the day together, Fabinho followed his new mate on Instagram before reposting a video of them playing together on his story. "An unexpected day," Brendan wrote. "Thank you @fabinho."

Brenden says the Brazilian midfielder made his holiday "one to remember" after the chance meeting.

Fabinho and his Liverpool teammates will report back to Kirkby for training on July 4, before heading to Thailand to kick off their pre-season fixtures.

They will face Manchester United on Tuesday July 12 at the Rajamangala Stadium and three days later, Jurgen Klopp's side will come up against Crystal Palace in Singapore.
