Jude Bellingham could not hold back his frustrations at Kylian Mbappé during Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat against Athletic Club on Wednesday evening.
Bellingham, 21, and Mbappé, 25, both started the game at Sam Mames, and despite the Englishman equalising in the 78th minute, Carlo Ancelotti’s side fell to another embarrassing result.
Last week, Los Blancos lost 2-0 against Liverpool at Anfield, which was their third defeat of the 2024/25 Champions League campaign - having previously sustained shock losses at the hands of AC Milan and Lille.

They currently sit 2nd in La Liga, four points behind arch-rivals Barcelona, who beat Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in October.
Last night’s poor performance was the latest in a string of sub-par showings from Madrid and Mbappé.
The French international joined the club from PSG on a free transfer in June 2024 but has failed to live up to the heights expected of him so far.

During the defeat at Anfield, Mbappé saw his penalty saved by Caoimhín Kelleher.
As a result, during Madrid’s 2-0 La Liga win against Getafe last Sunday, Bellingham was trusted with penalty-taking duties, and he cooly dispatched from 12 yards on that occasion.
Last night, Mbappé was allowed to redeem himself from the spot.
However, he saw his penalty saved by Athletic’s goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala.

Footage from the game also emerged on social media that appeared to show teammate Bellingham visibly frustrated with Mbappé.
The video, which you can see below, shows Mbappé trying to beat several defenders before the ball ran out of play.
Seconds later, Bellingham could not contain his frustration and turned away while appearing to shout before looking back toward Mbappé.

The Real Madrid pair’s relationship has come under scrutiny in recent weeks, with former France international Emmanuel Petit claiming that “Kylian Mbappe is so lonely at Real Madrid”.
"I saw Jude Bellingham ignoring him, and it doesn’t even look like he has any help or any friends at the club,” said Petit when speaking with Gambling Zone.
"He’s been hammered by the press and doesn’t seem like he has friends in Paris or Spain, and he’s also gone to a public enemy number one in France because of what happened in the last international break.
"He’s so far away from his level this season, too. I know he’s scored ten goals, but it’s just stats, and he doesn’t look like himself.”
