Footage of Kylian Mbappe during Real Madrid's Champions League loss to Liverpool has emerged online, and fans are not happy.

As a dramatic week of Champions League action came to a close, Liverpool produced a historic win over European rivals Madrid with a 2-0 victory at Anfield on Wednesday night.

With Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr absent from the match due to an injury, all eyes turned to summer signing Mbappe to show why he is paid his incredible wage and put in a season-best performance.

However, the Frenchman failed to impress at Anfield and now, one clip from the match has emerged online, and Madrid fans are frustrated.

Throughout the match, Mbappe's only shot came after Madrid were awarded a penalty after Andrew Robertson committed a foul on Lucas Vazquez within the Liverpool box, handing the visitors a spot kick.

However, the French forward was denied by Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who correctly predicted where Mbappe would shot and stopped the shot before it reached the net.

And now the 25-year-old has been met with fresh criticism after a clip went viral on social media showing Mbappe failing to make a run to win possession just outside of the Liverpool box.

1) The laziness of Mbappe:

Example, just look at this clip. He could've at least forced a corner, but didn't even run to the ball, and lets Robertson win the ball. pic.twitter.com/uHY8139QAJ

Mbappe attempts for cross a dangerous ball into the opponent's box, only for it to come off of defender Robertson.

However, instead of chasing the deflected ball down and launch another attack, Mbappe allows the Scotsman to gather the ball and start a counter-attack.

Reacting to the clip on Reddit, one frustrated fan wrote: "Bro, he's favourite for the ball and literally backs away when he sees there's a challenge coming."

While one criticised his mentality, writing: "Man has secured ludicrous wealth and achieved his dream of playing for Real.

"Seems the work ethic died once he achieved what he wanted."

And another suggested: "I think its more like a skill issue because he tries to calculate where the ball lands. Then when he sees defender he just decides to run where liverpool player would go.

"I dont think its lack of effort but more like poor decision making and not enough confidence to take into physical battle right away."
