It may have been six years since he left for pastures new but Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the biggest influences at Real Madrid as they prepare for the new season.
After joining the Spanish club from Manchester United in 2009 for a then-world record £80 million, Ronaldo would go on to become Los Blancos' all-time top scorer with 438 goals in 450 games.
His numbers will go down in the history books, no doubt. But his professionalism and relentless dedication continues to be the bench mark at Valdebebas, especially with the new generation.

In fact, Spanish publication AS suggest Real Madrid's current crop of players are using the 'Cristiano Method' to improve everything from nutrition to professionalism in training.
"Since his arrival in the summer of 2009, he has created a cultural change that's transcended the sporting aspect," the report says.
Vinicius, Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Endrick are named as those who grew up watching Ronaldo, and the his influence has been on show in recent weeks.

Rather than relax this summer, all of the above have worked hard during their summer holidays, applying the so-called 'Cristiano Method' to avoid losing physical tone ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
"This legacy left by Cristiano is established from the starters to the substitutes," the report adds. "Carlo Ancelotti's less regular players have the mentality of always being available when the situation requires."
Perhaps the biggest indicator of Ronaldo's continued influence was the admission of new signing Endrick at his Real Madrid presentation.

“I hadn't planned it, but I've loved Real Madrid since I was a kid," the Brazilian forward said earlier this month. "I saw Cristiano Ronaldo and because of him I wanted to know a bit more about Real Madrid."
Speaking to A Bola about the influence of Ronaldo, Endrick said: 'He's my biggest idol, a player who broke all records by being an exemplary, dedicated player.
"He is more than an athlete, he is a guy that everyone should have as an example, because no matter the moment, he wants to be the best, he wants to win titles, he wants to achieve milestones, in addition to being a person who shows humility.
"He is a reference for any player who wants to go further in their career."
