Thiago Alcantara is being considered by one of his former clubs as a potential assistant manager, according to a report from Spain – and they've already made contact.
The 33-year-old, who played just one game for Liverpool this season – a five minute cameo against Arsenal in February – will leave Anfield at the end of his contract on June 30.
The midfielder joined the Reds from Bayern Munich in 2020 and made 98 appearances during an injury-ravaged spell. In that time, he also lifted the FA Cup and Community Shield.

"These past four years have been a time of learning for me and my family," he wrote in an emotional statement. "Some wins, some defeats, but without a doubt, a life-changing experience."
His next move remains unclear, although former club Barcelona have earmarked the Spaniard for an unexpected role.
The Catalan giants are said to be on the hunt for an assistant manager that can speak fluent Spanish and German to join Hansi Flick's coaching staff, as well as someone who can act as a direct link with the squad.

And free agent Thiago is believed to be under consideration. In fact, a report from Diario AS suggests Barca have been in touch with the Spain international over a potential switch.
"A midfielder with a special talent, he has also always been a player with good spirit but a lot of character," the publication adds.
"He would be the ideal profile, but there has been a certain pessimism in the club when he has contacted those around him."
Thiago, who played under Flick during his seven-year spell at the Allianz Arena, is one of those being considered alongside Javi Martinez, Marc Bartra and Ivan Rakitic.

Barca, meanwhile, are aware that their quest to find a profile like Thiago will be difficult but they are keen to make it happen.
AS reporter Juan Jimenez says: "What is clear is that Flick has to be protected in the environment with someone who has football knowledge, presence in the locker room and total control of the German and the Spanish."
