Lamine Yamal has named the trio of legendary players he wishes he could play alongside in his burgeoning and promising career.

The 17-year-old is in the early stages of his playing days and has the world at his feet after a rapid rise to stardom.

Yamal made his Barcelona debut at the age of 16, having come through the Catalan club's famed La Masia academy.

So far in his Barca career, Yamal has scored 13 goals in 72 games across all competitions, and he already has a La Liga winners' medal under his belt.

Yamal has also become a key player for Spain, having netted three goals in 17 caps for his country.

He was part of the Spanish squad which triumphed at last summer's European Championships in Germany and beat England 2-1 in the final in Berlin to claim La Roja's fourth Euros title.

Yamal is on course for his most prolific season in front of goal for Barca, having netted six times in 21 games so far.

He is part of a Barcelona side which sits top of the La Liga table at present on goal difference ahead of Atletico Madrid, with Real Madrid only a point behind Hansi Flick's outfit as Barca suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Leganes over the weekend.

Yamal is part of a talented squad at the Camp Nou side, but the player himself has now named a trio who he wished he could have played with.

And the trio happen to be two Barcelona legends, while another formed part of one of the most feared front threes in football history at the club.

Speaking in a wide-ranging interview with Spanish outlet Marca, Yamal said: "Wow, there are many. But if I were to make a top three, I think Ronaldinho, Neymar and Messi."

Lionel Messi needs no introduction and is in many people's opinion the greatest football player of all time, built largely on his 672 goals in 778 games for Barcelona, having come through the ranks at La Masia, like Yamal.

Ronaldinho was for a time in the mid-2000s the best on the planet for a couple of seasons, winning the Champions League title and two La Liga crowns.

And Neymar was part of the so-called 'MSN' attacking trio at Barca alongside Messi and Luis Suarez after joining in 2013, winning the Champions League and two La Liga titles.

The Brazilian remains the player with the world record transfer fee after his 2017 move to Paris-Saint Germain following the French club meeting the €222m buy-out clause in his Barca contract.
