Gerard Pique has hit back at ex-wife Shakira, branding her as being untruthful about their divorce in June 2022.
Shakira announced she and then-husband Pique were separating in June 2022 after reports emerged that the former professional footballer was ‘unfaithful’ after 11 years together and two children, according to Daily Mail.
There was originally a theory that Shakira had caught wind of Pique’s alleged cheating when she found that strawberry jam had been eaten despite the singer being away.

The singer was reportedly the only jam eater in the relationship, which led to suspicions that Pique had been cheating. However, this theory has since been debunked by Shakira.
The former Manchester United and Barcelona defender announced his retirement from football in November 2022 and has insisted that he is ‘very happy’ with his new girlfriend, 25-year-old Clara Chia Marti.
Earlier in 2024, the singer released an album named ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’, which translates to ‘Women No Longer Cry’.

She explained how she had “put her career on hold” to help Pique pursue his footballing ambitions.
"There was a lot of sacrifice for love,” she told The Times
Her album was representative of "the transformation of pain into creativity, frustration into productivity, anger into passion, vulnerability into resilience", she said.
The song ‘Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’, was referred to as a "diss track" seemingly aimed towards the World Cup-winning defender.

However, Pique has hit back at his ex-wife’s antics.
“In the end, the truth or what happens or occurs is not told in the way it was,” he told CNN.
“I cannot control this. The best thing is that in the end I am surrounded by my loved ones, my family, my friends, and the people who really know you. They know what you are like and what you do, and that gives me a lot of peace of mind.

“I am very happy, I have a great time, and I feel privileged. The life I have had, being able to play for the club of my life for more than twenty years, wonderful children, an incredible family, lifelong friends, those from school that I still have.”
In 2022, Spanish outlet El Periodico reported that Shakira and Pique had been living separately for several weeks after the singer had ‘kicked the player out’ of their family home.
It then emerged that the former Barca man’s new girlfriend had moved into the home he had previously shared with the Colombian singer in Barcelona.
Since retiring, Pique has become president of the Kings League – a seven-a-side football league based in Barcelona. The rules include traditional football regulations as well as alternative rules such as a tie-breaker penalty shootout and unlimited substitutions.
