Barcelona could be set to 'exile' star midfielder Frenkie De Jong following ongoing issues during contract negotiations.
The Catalan side are going through an extremely important January transfer window as the club continues to battle off-field issues whilst also competing for La Liga.
There has been some good news for Barcelona, as it was confirmed that the club have received the green light to register Dani Olmo, who could have left the club for free this month.

Barcelona are likely to be forced into selling assets this month due to their financial struggles with defender Ronald Araujoa emerging as a target for Juventus according to reports.
However, according to SPORT Araujoa isn't the only high-profile star who could be on the way out, with Barcelona open to selling De Jong due to his ongoing contract situation.
De Jong's current contract runs out in the summer of 2026, and attempts to negotiate a contract renewal with the Dutch midfielder but have been 'met with silence'.

The report states that despite De Jong intending to see out the remainder of his contract at the Nou Camp, Barcelona's desperation for as much cash as possible could lead to drastic action.
If the 27-year-old fails to leave the club or sign an extension he could be exiled from the squad by Hansi Flick.
Flick is believed to no longer count on the Netherlands international with players like Pedri, Marc Casad, Gavi, Dani Olmo, and surprisingly Fermin Lopez ahead of him in the pecking order.

De Jong is one of Barcelona's highest earners, commanding a reported €365,385 per week, which is largely the reason the La Liga giants are so open to a late exit this month.
The Dutchman has only started one game out of eight appearances in La Liga this season but has found the net during his limited game time.
