Fans reckon Kylian Mbappe 'got a little too excited' after reaching the World Cup final

"There is a bump in your white shorts... guess that victory makes you excited in several ways."

Fans are all saying the same thing after a photograph was taken of Kylian Mbappe consoling Achraf Hakimi after France's semi-final victory over Morocco at the World Cup.

Eagle-eyed social media sleuths have joked that the French megastar perhaps 'got a little too excited' at reaching back-to-back finals, with some noticing a 'bulge' in his shorts.

In the wake of Les Bleus' 2-0 victory over the tournament's surprise packages, Mbappe was quick to run over to his PSG teammate Hakimi and console him.

Various pictures were taken of Mbappe lifting Hakimi off the turf before embracing him with a hug.

Mbappe also posted one of those photos on his Instagram, saying: "BACK TO BACK WORLD CUP FINAL. Don’t be sad bro, everybody is proud of what you did, you made history. @achrafhakimi."

But Twitter users didn't seem too bothered by the heartfelt message from one player to another.

No, instead, they were focused on the 'bulge' appearing in Mbappe's shorts.

One joked: "Ok bro, but why you hard?"

While another said: "You all ain't seeing what I'm seeing."

As a third added: "There is a bump in your white shorts... guess that victory makes you excited in several ways."

Popular Twitter account 'No Content Football' also posted the image, sparking a barrage of memes in the comments section.

France now play Argentina in the final as they look to become just the third nation in history to win back-to-back World Cups.

It's also a fascinating match-up between the old and new guard with Mbappe squaring off against arguably the greatest of all-time in Lionel Messi.

But when it comes to comparing the PSG teammates, Damien Duff thinks there's only one winner.

"How good Messi is, the best version of Messi when he was 23, 24, 25 maybe, Mbappe doesn’t lace his boots," the former Chelsea winger told RTE.

"The best version of Messi, Mbappe still doesn’t touch Messi. That’s how good Messi was.

"That’s what I’m saying. The best version, when was that? When he was 23, 24. Messi is the best ever."
