Jurgen Klopp has opened up about Liverpool’s transfer activity this summer, and has defended the club's decision not to sign another new midfielder.
At the beginning of the transfer window, the Reds did initially look to reinforce their midfield.
One of their main targets was the French international, Aurelien Tchouameni.

However, unfortunately for Klopp's side, it was the European champions Real Madrid who managed to snatch up the 22-year-old.
Alongside Tchouameni, Jude Bellingham was another player who Liverpool had their eyes on. However, it looks like he is not available this summer.

Dortmund won't want to lose their top two talents in the same window, as they have recently sold Haaland to Man City.
Klopp admitted to Sky Sports that he “knows that people think (they) should have signed a midfielder”.
However, he has no doubts that his side is already well-stocked in the middle of the park, praising the talent he already has in the Liverpool dressing room.
He highlighted in particular that Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho and Tyler Morton, are all incredible talents that can d a job in that position if needed.

He went on to claim that Elliott “was (their) best player in the first four matches of last season” (before he got injured), that Carvalho is “incredibly interesting” and that Tyler Morton is “absolutely exceptional” in training.
Alongside these promising youngsters, Klopp added that when the rest of his midfielders are fully fit and firing they offer “everything he wants from his midfield, namely creativity, hard work and box-to-box capability”.

The Merseyside club have not had a bad transfer window, however.
They quickly signed the Uruguayan rising star, Darwin Nunez, as a replacement for Sadio Mane.
They also brought in Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, who will both play a key part in the squad next season.
