Liverpool may make Lille forward Jonathan David their replacement for Sadio Mane this summer, according to reports.
The Canadian forward has been on the FA Cup winners’ wishlist for several years, and with Mane’s departure seeming inevitable, he could be the Reds’ choice to fill the Senegalese’s void.
He’s valued at around £40.5m by Transfermarkt, and according to The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce, the superiors at Anfield are monitoring his situation in Ligue 1.

Several Premier League clubs have been touted for the 22-year-old, with Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal all reportedly interested. Pearce’s report suggests that while not top of the list, David will certainly be considered this summer by Jurgen Klopp and his staff.
Since signing for Lille in 2020 from Belgian outfit Gent, David has shown he has the ability to reach new levels and settle quickly to new surroundings. He played a huge part in Lille’s title success in the 2020/21 season and could do the same with a Liverpool side desperate to regain the Premier League title from Manchester City’s stranglehold.
His former youth coach Hanny El-Maghraby stated about his ability to press that “he has the willingness to do it and the intelligence. It all falls together when you have those attributes,” whilst journalist Hein Vanhaezebrouck once dubbed him “a phenomenon” and “the best player in [Belgium].”
These comments will only be music to Klopp’s ears, as the German is famous for instilling a pressing style of play at Anfield.

With Mane, Origi and potentially Minamino off, additions are needed for Liverpool to keep challenging the likes of Manchester City.
