It was one of the most hilarious stories to come out of the World Cup.
The shirt-swapping drama between Olivier Giroud and Jason Cummings that saw the Socceroo brushed off by the Frenchmen.
France had just defeated the Aussies 4-1, with Giroud putting on a clinic.

After the game, Cummings had gone in search of Kylian Mbappe’s jersey, but soon turned his attention to his striking partner.
However, the A-League star claims that the AC Milan forward snubbed him and had ‘pretended he never spoke English’.
Speaking on The Project, Cummings recalled: “I’m walking, as handsome as ever, and I asked him, ‘Giroud, please man, can I get your shirt man? I’m a big fan, can I get your shirt?’

“And he just walked past me, pretended he never spoke English! And he’s been in the Premier League for 10 years! (laughing). He just walked right past me.”
The hilarious tidbit made its way back to Giroud who fired back with a response challenging Cumming’s story.
The AC Milan striker had shared photos of fellow Australian Jackson Irvine’s jersey with the caption: “Hi @jacksonirvine_ how is my English mate?”
But in the latest episode of A-League All Access we got an insight into how the pair managed to bury the beef.
In the video, Cummings walks into the Central Coast training room with a bit of a story for his teammates.

He says: “I got a message from Giroud this morning.
“He messaged me. He messaged me on Insta. DM’ed me. I’ll show you, bro.”
Adding: “I’ve seen it this morning, I was like, ‘Oh, f***.’
“I s*** myself. I thought someone was winding me up.”

Cummings then relayed the message he received from the French star.
Cummings relayed: “Hi bro, what’s up?
“I’m sorry about the misunderstanding, but your mate Jackson asked me to swap shirts first and wanted to keep my second jersey which was symbolic for me because I’d just equalled Thierry Henry’s goal record in that game, winky face.
“Anyway, I would like to send you my Milan AC jersey if you’d like. Let me know man.

“Take care, Oli G.”
The boys erupted at the message as Cummings yelled out ‘Oli G!’
And Giroud ended up going through with his promise as the pair finally swapped jerseys last month.
Giroud sent Cummings his AC Milan kit, and Cummings sent his Mariners kit the other way.
A wonderful ending to a wonderful saga.
