Iker Casillas had a hilariously awkward exchange with teammate Fabio Coentrao when he told the Portuguese left-back he wasn't in Real Madrid's matchday squad.
Back in May 2013, Real travelled to Espanyol and played out a 1-1 draw with the Catalan outfit.
Gonzalo Higuain cancelled out Cristhian Stuani's opener in the second half, with Real playing a slightly weakened side given the Copa Del Rey final with Atletico Madrid was looming.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso were among the substitutes. Coentrao, a €30 million signing from Benfica, was not despite thinking he was.
He sat on the away bench with his shorts, socks and Real training top, ready to be called upon.
Except that was never going to happen because Coentrao was actually not even in the squad at all and had been rested.

Real and Spain legend Casillas, having initially been so confused, had to break the news to Coentrao.
His facial expression was an absolute picture and he then went over to the management team, with Jose Mourinho in absolute hysterics.
Ronaldo took his compatriot's seat next to Casillas, while Coentrao had to join the other rested players in the stands.

To be fair to Coentrao, he took it very well and saw the funny side. The former Rio Ave man was a starter the following week as Real were beaten in the cup final against rivals Atleti, who came away with a 2-1 win in extra time at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 34-year-old played 106 times for Los Blancos, winning two La Liga titles and two Champions Leagues.
Loaned out to Monaco and Sporting CP, Coentrao left in 2018 and returned to boyhood club Rio Ave before hanging up his boots and deciding to become a shipowner fisherman.
