Harry Kane has been given an ultimatum by Manchester United in a last gasp attempt to try and sign the striker from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
There was undoubtedly a shortage of goals in United's team last season despite Marcus Rashford having the best goalscoring season of his career.
In the number nine position Erik ten Hag had use of Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at different times and none of them lived up to their main function.

Ten Hag is desperate to add a striker to his ranks this summer and has drawn up a five man shortlist of the players he wants to fill the role.
Despite that list there is little doubt that the club's main target would be Kane, with the Spurs striker having just one year left on his deal in North London.
On Monday night the 29-year-old scored at Old Trafford for England after Rashford and Luke Shaw combined to set up the goal, basically a wet dream for United supporters.

The price tag of around £100 million is thought to be too much for United to bring England's all time top scorer to the Theatre of Dreams on a permanent basis.
It was thought United had already walked away from any deal however according to the Sun they want Kane to force the issue and have told him to put in a transfer request or at least a 'strongly worded statement' about wanting to leave.
United believe that the player wants the move but that there won't be any room for negotiation for transfer fee with Daniel Levy unless the former Leyton Orient loanee asks for the move.

The would be buyers do not want to end up in a situation where they allow the transfer to drag on for ages so they will likely turn their attention back to alternatives soon enough.
In the past few years it has been a frustration for fans that transfer sagas including Harry Maguire, Jadon Sancho and Frenkie de Jong have gone on for ages.
Failure to sign De Jong did at least end up with them getting Casemiro and that was obviously a very good move for them.
Outside of transfers the protracted sale of the club must be starting to wear on supporters, especially as the process started months ago.

We're still no closer to finding out if Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be the preferred bidder and the sale won't happen until the season has started.
