Since quitting professional football at 23, Diego Poyet has totally transformed his body and now coaches the Greek national team.
Poyet is the son of Gus Poyet - legendary Chelsea star and ex-Premier League manager.
Poyet Jr burst on the football scene at just 19 years old. He made his professional debut for Charlton Athletic.

After coming through the youth system, Poyet went on to make 23 appearances for Charlton.
However, in 2014, he opted not to extend his contract with the Addicks.
“Charlton contacted me and I wasn’t really pleased with the offer they gave me,” Poyet told Sky Sports in 2018.
“I’d been at the club six or seven years and had a close relationship with a lot of the players,” he continued.

“[The offer] made me feel under-appreciated, considering how long I’d been at the club.”
Instead of heading to Sunderland, where his dad was manager, he opted to sign with rival club West Ham.
However, due to a lack of playing time, he was loaned to Huddersfield Town, Milton Keynes Dons, and back to Charlton Athletic between 2014-2016.

However, after a mutual contract termination, Poyet moved to Argentina.
“I was there for six months and could only play in the Copa Libertadores,” he told Sky Sports.
“It was a nightmare, it was the worst time of my life.”
“I was in Argentina, living for myself… The manager was hesitant to play me as I hadn’t played a game in months and had to decide if he wanted to play a player who hasn’t played and isn’t match fit.”

Without regular playing time, Poyet quit playing football professionally at the tender age of 23.
However, his football career was far from over.
In 2020, he was employed as a coaching staff member at Universidad Catolica.

He helped his dad to guide the Chilean side to victory in the delayed 2020 Supercopa de Chile.
In February 2022, Poyet continued to follow and work with his dad as a football coach.
He was named assistant head coach to the Greek national team.
During his short time at Piratiko, he’s already helped earn the Greek national team a promotion.
They are now in League B in the Nations League.
Outside of football, Poyet has also taken up weightlifting.
He regularly posts his impressive physique to his 17.7K Instagram followers.
He often posts his workout regime, and also offers tailored nutrition and training plans via email.
